OSHA’s Respirable Crystalline Silica Standard for Construction was effective as of June 23, 2016. The construction industry has until June 23, 2017 to comply with the provisions of this new standard. Silica is a component of sand, stone, rock, concrete, brick, block, and mortar and therefore materials containing silica are found in a wide variety of workplaces. This session will address the many questions regarding this standard and how and when it applies. Peter DeLucia, Safety Manager from AAC Contracting, Inc., will provide an in depth review of this standard to include: engineering and work practice controls, exposure control plans, PPE and employee exposure monitoring.
