The Associated General Contractors of New York State is the leading voice of the building and heavy highway construction industry, representing contractors and related companies dedicated to the ideals of skill, integrity and responsibility.
Membership in the AGC NYS provides you with the opportunities to participate in addressing and learning from all the issues and problems created by the complexity of New York State’s current and future current political, legal and regulatory environment.
New York has recently passed legislation amending its MWBE laws and adding workforce diversity requirements. This program will discuss:
How the new law will affect MWBE subcontracting goals generally;
How some agencies, such as DOT, are changing and expediting their utilization plan approval process;
Changes to certification that will affect available MWBEs;
Bid preferences to be granted to MWBEs on certain contracts; and
How the Workforce Diversity Program will affect your subcontracts, what the expected goals will be, and what the waiver process is expected to look like.
